MANEKO Desktop Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 2, 2026
Last Updated: September 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MANEKO Desktop ("MANEKO", "the application", "we", "us", or "our") accesses, processes, stores, and transmits information when you use the application.
MANEKO is a Windows desktop translation and communication utility that provides access to supported web services and translation features. Depending on the features you choose to use, MANEKO may process text and other information displayed in supported services such as Discord, Telegram, X, and YouTube.
1. Information MANEKO May Access or Process
MANEKO may access or process the following types of information as necessary to provide its features:
- Text displayed in supported web services, including messages, posts, comments, and other text content.
- Text that you type or select for translation.
- Usernames, display names, account identifiers, or other information displayed by third-party web services as part of their normal web interfaces.
- Browser cookies, session information, local storage, and similar browser data required to maintain sign-in sessions in embedded web content.
- Translation provider configuration and API credentials that you choose to provide.
- Application settings and translation preferences.
- Microsoft Store license, trial, and purchase entitlement information required to determine application access.
MANEKO does not require you to create a separate MANEKO cloud account for its core desktop functionality.
2. How Information Is Used
Information accessed or processed by MANEKO is used only as necessary to provide application functionality, including:
- Displaying supported web services.
- Maintaining your local sign-in sessions.
- Translating incoming or outgoing text.
- Performing user-requested higher-quality or cloud-based translations.
- Preparing translated text before sending or posting.
- Preserving application preferences.
- Verifying Microsoft Store trial or purchase entitlement.
MANEKO does not sell your personal information.
MANEKO does not use message content or API credentials for advertising or data-broker purposes.
3. Local Storage on Your Device
MANEKO is designed so that important application and browser data remains on your Windows device whenever possible.
Browser and Session Data
Cookies, sign-in sessions, browser storage, and related data used by supported web services are stored in the application's local WebView2 user data/profile storage.
This local browser data may include authentication cookies and session information required to keep you signed in to services such as Discord or Telegram.
MANEKO does not intentionally include this browser profile or session data in its distributed application packages.
API Credentials
API keys or similar credentials that you provide for supported translation providers are stored using Windows Credential Manager rather than ordinary JavaScript storage or plain-text application settings.
MANEKO does not intentionally store your translation-provider API keys on a MANEKO-operated cloud server.
Application Settings
Application preferences and configuration may be stored locally on your device.
4. Translation Services and Third-Party Processing
Some MANEKO translation features may use third-party translation or artificial intelligence services.
Depending on the feature you enable or invoke, text necessary to perform a translation may be transmitted from your device to a selected third-party provider.
These providers may include services such as:
- OpenAI
- Google Gemini
- DeepL
- Web-based translation services used by supported translation functionality
Cloud-based or higher-quality translation features are optional and are used when you configure, select, enable, or invoke the applicable provider or feature.
When text is submitted to a third-party provider, that provider processes the information under its own terms, privacy policy, retention practices, and security practices.
MANEKO does not control how an independent third-party provider processes information after it has been transmitted to that provider.
You should review the privacy terms of any third-party translation provider that you choose to use.
5. Third-Party Web Services
MANEKO provides access to third-party web services, which may include Discord, Telegram, X, YouTube, and other supported websites.
These services are independent of MANEKO.
When you sign in to or interact with a third-party service:
- Your account relationship is with that third-party service.
- The service may collect or process information according to its own privacy policy.
- MANEKO does not control the third party's data collection, account management, or privacy practices.
- MANEKO does not receive ownership of your third-party account.
Content displayed by third-party services may contain information belonging to other people. You are responsible for using translation and communication features in accordance with applicable law, the rights of other individuals, and the terms of the relevant third-party services.
6. User Choice and Control
You control whether to use optional translation providers and translation features.
Where applicable, you may:
- Enable or disable translation functionality.
- Choose which supported translation provider to use.
- Stop using a cloud-based translation feature.
- Remove or replace provider credentials.
- Manage stored credentials through Windows Credential Manager.
- Sign out of third-party web services.
- Manage or remove local application/browser data using applicable MANEKO or Windows controls.
Disabling or discontinuing a third-party translation feature prevents future requests through that feature, but it does not control information already processed by an independent third-party provider.
7. Information MANEKO Does Not Intentionally Collect Centrally
As part of its normal core desktop operation, MANEKO does not operate a central MANEKO server for the purpose of collecting or storing:
- Your Discord or Telegram login cookies.
- Your WebView2 browser profile.
- Your third-party service passwords.
- Your translation-provider API keys.
- Copies of your private chat history.
- Copies of your browser session data.
Information may still be transmitted directly to third-party services when required to perform a feature that you choose to use, as described in this Privacy Policy.
8. Microsoft Store License and Trial Information
MANEKO uses Microsoft Store services to determine trial, license, and purchase entitlement.
Microsoft Store is the authority for MANEKO's Store trial and purchase entitlement.
MANEKO may request license information from Microsoft Store as necessary to determine whether the application is in a trial or licensed state.
Microsoft processes Microsoft Store account, purchase, and licensing information according to Microsoft's own privacy practices.
MANEKO does not use a separate MANEKO-operated cloud account as a parallel license authority for the Microsoft Store version.
9. Security
MANEKO uses reasonable technical measures intended to reduce unnecessary exposure of sensitive application information.
These measures include:
- Using Windows Credential Manager for supported provider credentials.
- Keeping browser/session data in local WebView2 user data rather than intentionally packaging it with the application.
- Using encrypted network connections when communicating with supported cloud services where applicable.
- Avoiding intentional logging of API keys, passwords, authorization credentials, or private message content for ordinary diagnostic purposes.
No software or network transmission method can guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Windows account, Microsoft account, third-party service accounts, and API credentials.
10. Data Retention
MANEKO itself does not maintain a central server-side archive of your private message content or provider API keys as part of normal desktop operation.
Local application data may remain on your device until you remove it, clear the applicable data, remove stored credentials, or Windows removes the relevant application data.
Removing MANEKO may not automatically remove every credential or third-party browser/session record in every Windows configuration.
Information sent to a third-party service may be retained by that provider according to its own policies.
11. International Processing
Third-party services used through MANEKO may process information in countries or regions outside your own.
The location, retention, and transfer practices of third-party providers are governed by their respective privacy policies and applicable laws.
12. Sensitive Information
MANEKO is a general-purpose translation and communication utility.
You should avoid submitting highly sensitive personal information to third-party translation or AI providers unless doing so is appropriate, lawful, and necessary for your use of the service.
Where information belongs to another person, you are responsible for ensuring that you have an appropriate basis to process or transmit that information.
13. Children's Privacy
MANEKO is not specifically designed or directed toward children.
Users must comply with the age requirements and privacy rules of Microsoft Store and any third-party services accessed through MANEKO.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when MANEKO's functionality, third-party integrations, legal requirements, or data practices change.
When the policy is updated, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
Material changes should be reflected in this policy before or when the corresponding functionality becomes available to users.
15. Contact
For privacy questions, support requests, or questions about MANEKO Desktop's handling of information, contact:

If your question concerns information held by Discord, Telegram, X, YouTube, OpenAI, Google, DeepL, Microsoft, or another third-party provider, you may also need to contact that provider directly because MANEKO does not control information held in the provider's systems.
